Sea life

We met our friends, the Stiles, at the Marine Life Center. Anna Kate pretends to be a starfish in the bath tub and has been wanting to see one. I remember Mimi mentioning this place on her blog so we thought we would check it out.



Anna Kate thought the octopus was pretty cool. She wanted to touch it!

Instead she got to touch things in the touch tank - hermit crabs, sea cucumber, sea weed, starfish, sea anemone, etc. She said the starfish felt like a strawberry.

Burrito Babies

I swaddled Isaac in a blanket and Anna Kate asked to be wrapped up too!

Car seat snooze

I think Isaac has spent more time in his car seat than Anna Kate had at this age. I guess that comes with being the second child. He doesn't seem to mind and just sleeps the day away!

She likes to be a baby too!

Anna Kate wants to try out all the baby stuff we have around here.

First time to church

We headed to church today for the first time since Isaac was born. Isaac did great and slept the whole time... Anna Kate not so great! We were talking with the Stiles, who are visiting from Utah, and all of the sudden Anna Kate is gone! I run down to the nursery in case she went there or someone took her there - nope! I run back and tell Mike and we both are frantically looking around the church for her. Thankfully someone found her walking down the hall and held onto her. She told him, "I'm big now. I'm going to nursery all by myself!" Little Miss Independent nearly gave us a heart-attack! After church we talked about being safe and staying with Mommy or Daddy.

3 Weeks Old

Isaac this week:
He will sleep forever if he's being held.
Still sleeps all day and is more awake at night.
When he wakes up he wants to eat immediately!
Starting to fill out a little in his legs.
Has let out a few loud cries!
Took his first bath in the tub.
Rode in the Baby Bjorn for the first time - slept the whole time.
Fights getting swaddled.
No real smiles but has the cutest sleepy smiles.

Rainbow

Lucky Anna Kate got a rainbow snow cone today at the farmer's market.

She was also a lucky girl at Fairhaven Park - Daddy let her run through the spray park in her clothes! She got soaked but had a lot of fun.
(Don't worry - we had a towel and a change of clothes in the car.)

Just because!

Sharing

Anna Kate was so sweet and said she wanted to share her very special "purple blankey" with her baby brother.

Storytime

Anna Kate said she was going to read Isaac a story while he got his diaper changed. I love how she turned the book towards him to read.

Sweet Sister

Anna Kate is SO good with Baby Isaac. She sings lullabies to him when he fusses or is getting his diaper changed.



She asks to hold him everyday! She also "talks" for him. She will say things like, "Oh, I think baby brother wants his big sister to sing him a song." or "Baby Brother says, 'Feed me, I'm hungry!'"

She is the sweetest sister!

Isaac has a blocked tear-duct and I was told to put a warm washcloth on him every time he eats to help clear it up. I thought he looked pretty funny with this washcloth on his face.



He thought so too!

Swimming Lessons

Anna Kate started swimming lessons!


As you can see in the photos above, she had a little bit of a hard time paying attention - facing the other way, watching the kids next to her, and climbing out and playing with a watering can. Ugh! After it was over I asked her what she learned and she said, "I don't know!" I'm guessing she really didn't!

She did do a little "floating" on her back and kicking. She said she told her teacher she didn't want to go on her back and the teacher said, "Sorry." It must have been a "sorry but your doing it anyway" thing because she did it.

I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I'm uneasy around the water which is why I really want her to take lessons and be confident. I did not like watching her little head bob up and down and then see her crawling around and in and out. I thought for sure she was going to fall in. Thankfully she was just fine, had a great time and DID NOT want to get out of the water! Let's hope the next seven lessons go a little better.

First bath in the tub

We gave Isaac his first bath in the baby tub tonight. He didn't like the getting naked or getting out part but he did like getting his hair washed and rinsed.

He was really wiggly and kept going diagonal in the tub.

Silly Sleeper

Anna Kate tried to convince us to let her sleep like this for the night. She said it was comfortable!

Writing letters

Anna Kate can write A's, E's, I's, O's and backwards C's!

Happy Father's Day

Tummy Time

Isaac loves to be on his belly. He calms down right away.

2 Weeks Old

Isaac this week:
His umbilical cord fell off.
He's even noisier when he sleeps.
He eats about every 3 hours during the day and about every 2 hours at night.
He will sleep for longer stretches of time if he's being held.
We all survived his circumcision and the days that followed.
He is patient with his Mommy as she tries to figure out how to take care of two kids on her own.
He lets his sister hold him everyday.
He will take a pacifier for a little bit... still learning how to keep it in.
He still sleeps a lot but we've seen his eyes open more this week.
We all love to snuggle with him and can hardly remember what it was like without him!

Build-A-Bear

Anna Kate got to go to Build-A-Bear and actually make something! Usually we just walk through and look at everything.


Out of all the animals she chose a bunny! I was surprised since there was a grey kitty and she loves her kitties.

She helped stuff the bunny and put the little heart inside.

I think her favorite part was "washing" her bunny.

A happy girl (with a cheesy, fake smile) and her new bunny that she named "Bunny Bunny Hop Hop Hop!"

Strawberry Festival

We headed out to Boxx Berry Farms for the Strawberry Festival. We enjoyed our strawberry sundaes while Anna Kate rode on the tractor ride!

I always wonder what kids are thinking. Here is my guess for these two:

"Hmm... what can I get into while Mom is busy with my baby brother?"

"Help me!"

Wiggles Concert???

Anna Kate told me that we were going to the Wiggles concert. She had us sit on the couch and "watch." She told me if we followed directions we would be able to go on the stage and dance with them. So we sat and "watched" (watched nothing) for a couple minutes. Then she said, "We did it. We get to go on skage (stage)!" I told her to go ahead and go up and I would watch!



She went on the "stage" and started dancing and singing, "Can you point your fingers and do the twist?" just like the Wiggles do!
