Helping Papa

My mom showed Anna Kate part of fence that fell over in a wind storm and mentioned that Papa needed fix it. Well, if you give Anna Kate an idea she won't let it go until you go for it. She found two play hammers and told Papa, "Come on Papa. We need to fix the fence. Here's a hammer." He told her that he needed a new hammer. My mom happen to have these Carhartt overalls in Anna Kate's size. She put them on on top of her jammies and then went and bugged Papa some more. He got his overalls on as well and headed outside with Anna Kate to "work!"

Anna Kate got to use her hammer to help "fix" the fence. We brought her back inside so Papa could actually fix it and she said, "I helped Papa. I'm SO NICE!"

Fun at Grandma and Papa's

We headed down to visit our family and to see Brianna in her school play. Anna Kate LOVES to go to Grandma & Papa's house and play with them and all the toys.

Anna Kate is getting better at figuring out how to "read" these books. Mostly she just finds a think to point to that makes a funny sound and does it over and over!

Picnic time for everyone

Anna Kate got a lot of play food for Christmas and she's been having fun setting up picnics for us and her "friends." I cleaned up one of her picnics one night and when she got up in the morning she asked where it went!

The weather has been so nice lately, especially for January. Anna Kate and I hit the park. We were the only ones there! Anna Kate kept asking where all the kids were.

Grape Going!

Sometimes Anna Kate needs some coaxing to eat food, especially if she hasn't had it for a while. We hadn't gotten grapes for a while and she was hving way more fun playing with them instead of eating them. I told her to put it in her mouth, crunch them (so I can hear) and make them juicy. Now, she can't eat grapes without asking me to tell her to do all that and then "crunching" them for me. I have to recognize each grape she eats! Good thing she's cute!

... someday she will be a pianist!

Miss Musical

Anna Kate is always passing out instruments to Mike and I and having us have our own little music group. She loves to sing in the microphone!

Tinker Bell Anna Kate

Anna Kate has been really into Tinker Bell lately. She kept asking me wear her Tinker Bell clothes were. We found some cute jammies (with matching slippers) at Fred Meyer. She wanted to put them on and said, "I'm Tinker Bell Anna Kate!"



She's pointing to a bandaid in this pic. She didn't really need a band-aid, just fell of the stool and it really hurt. She told me,"Thanks for being Dr. Mommy and making me feel better with a band-aid!" Funny girl!

Potty Training

We've been only kind of potty-training for the past couple of months... lots of talking about it and occasionally getting Anna Kate to use the toilet. However, Anna Kate has not been wanting to wear underwear. Everyday I would offer her to wear underwear and she would say, "No, I'm going to wear diapers." I would tell her that diapers were for babies and she would say, "I'm a baby!" I was getting frustrated! About a month ago, I had a great idea! Anna Kate LOVES watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and a couple of other shows. So while she was taking a bath one morning, I told her she could only watch TV if she was wearing underwear and they were dry. She repeated the rules back to me and seemed totally on bored. Since I was feeling so sick I was really okay with the fact she may be watching TV all day. I got her out and the bath and pulled out underwear for her and much to my surprise she said, "No, I'm going to wear a diaper." I reminded her that then she wouldn't be able to watch TV and she said, "I'm just going to play toys today." Ugh! I was outsmarted by a 2-year old! All day I kept asking her if she wanted to watch TV. She always said no! I couldn't believe it. I decided to just forget about it for awhile.

Fast forward to now... I know she is capable and we just needed to actually be consistent. I decided this was the week. I told her she couldn't wear diapers anymore because we needed to save them for the baby and surprising she was okay with it. She put on underwear without a problem. I also told her that every time she went in the toilet she would get a Skittle. She went to the bathroom 14 times! The only thing was she didn't ask to go once... it was ALWAYS me taking her. We need to work on that.

I made this bird dress for Anna Kate a few months ago and she DID NOT LIKE IT! Now she asks to wear it! I guess the birds finally grew on her!

Silly Sleeper

Mike and I were looking at something on the laptop when I heard some "snoring" behind us. I turned around and saw this:



Anna Kate with her eyes closed and fake sleeping. We watched her for what seemed forever. She finally opened her eyes and she was so embarrassed. She got upset and said she needed to rest.

Dress-up!

Mallory gave Anna Kate all her dress-up clothes that she has outgrown. Anna Kate was SO excited to see all the princess dresses and had a fun night of trying a few different ones on.

New bed?

My mom gave us this little bed for the new baby. However, Anna Kate thinks it's for her! And her friends!! I keep folding it up and then keep finding it unfolded with Anna Kate in it!

Becky had given us this Johnny Jump-Up when Anna Kate was a baby. We never used it and had put it away. Anna Kate found it and pulled it out. She wanted to know what it was so we showed her. She thought it was the greatest thing ever!! She DID NOT want to get out! We had to hide it from her because she wanted to do it all the time.
