Fashionista?!?
Anna Kate is sporting a new layered look! Maybe it will take off this fall.Today while I was putting away laundry, she pulled one of her legs into these jeans and then tried to walk. Of course it fell down! She signed, "please!" so I helped her put them on over her other pants. She was so pleased when they were on and giggled!
Elmo ran out of bubbles but Anna Kate insisted on refilling him all by herself. That didn't work out too well for her since the lid was on the bubbles. However, it didn't stop her from trying.Sunday, July 27, 2008

Crazy with cousins
Luke and Molly came to see Anna Kate. They had a great time running, playing ring around the rosy and motorboat. Molly and Anna Kate were so cute and gave each other hugs!Chugga Chugga Choo Choo
Brianna, Anna Kate and I rode the train from Bellingham to Tacoma!
Anna Kate sees the train coming down the tracks.
They showed a movie on the train and since Anna Kate doesn't get to watch TV she was loving it. I let her wear the headphones so she could hear what was going on! :) That only lasted a couple minutes. For being a very busy one-year-old, she did a great job on the ride. She waved at the people passing through our car, ate snacks and went for a little walk.
Aunt Brianna was a big help with all our stuff and keeping Anna Kate happy. Thanks Brianna!

Caught!
I went into Anna Kate's room today to get her up from her nap and this is what I found:
I can't believe she was able to get a book into her crib, especially such a big one. They are kept in a basket next to her crib so she must have been able to reach it and maneuver it through the slats. I imagine this is why it took her so long to fall asleep!Sunday, July 20, 2008
Fun with Aunt Nanna
Anna Kate is all about accessories right now... necklaces, hats, shoes, bracelets, purses, etc!

In the midst of making jam, Brianna and I also made rainbow jello. Pretty cool huh? We should have let each layer set a little longer but it still turned out. I got the recipe here. We added another layer of red so we could get purple in the rainbow.

Raspberry Festival
Brianna, Anna Kate and I went out to Boxx Berry Farms for the Raspberry Festival.
We took a wagon ride around the farm.(Thanks to April for taking our photo!)
Our "tour guide" stopped the wagon and picked everyone some fresh carrots. Anna Kate just played with hers.
We ran into the Gordon's and Katie volunteered to take Anna Kate on the train ride. It was a pretty tight fit for them.
Katie said Anna Kate was having a great time, laughing and squealing, until her little brother started screaming. That scared her! (Click on the pic to see it bigger.) After taking the tour Brianna asked if we could pick some raspberries... neither of us have ever picked berries before! So off we went.
Brianna did most the berry picking because I was holding Anna Kate most the time and only had one arm free. Anna Kate stayed occupied for the most part because I would pick 5 or so berries and then give one to her to eat. She loved them!
Looks like they found some yummy ones!
We ended up with 8.5 pounds. So we decided to make some freezer jam. Again, neither of us had ever made jam before so we called Grandpa Fred for some advice.
We ended up making 2 batches of jam and still had 3 quarts to freeze and a few to put on our ice cream. We hope the jam turns out okay!Friday, July 18, 2008
Aunt Nanna is here!
I picked up Brianna from the train last night! Anna Kate got so excited to see her and has been loving playing with her.
We hit the mall today and found this Elmo bubble blower on clearance at Target. Brianna got it all set up for Anna Kate. Anna Kate liked it but got very mad when I wouldn't let her "help" Elmo move his arm up and down. So I moved it up and then she stood right in front of it so the bubbles kept getting blown into her eyes. Then she stuck her fingers in the container of bubbles and put them in her mouth. She seemed to like it so I guess the threat of having to wash her mouth out with soap won't work on her. Silly girl!

It's starting to click!
Just in the past couple of days, Anna Kate is getting more coordinated. Before she would hand me the coins, shapes or pieces for me to do. Now she's been able to put her coins into her piggy bank, shapes into her shape sorter and try to put the puzzle pieces in the right spots. She's gotten lucky a couple of times and gotten the piece in! She's growing up and getting smart! :)

Silly girl!
There is a basket in Anna Kate's closet that holds all the bloomers that go to her dresses. She likes to pull it off the shelf, dump it out and sit in it.
And try to put on the bloomers on her head!Purse
Anna Kate's new favorite thing to carry around with her... a purse! Last night she was carrying a bag thing around but the strap was too long so she kept tripping on it. So I got out this purse for her to play with and she loved it. It was the first thing she went to this morning. She's still working on putting things inside it. She tries but doesn't quite make it.

13 months old
Our very busy little girl! She walks everywhere... no more crawling. She can now (kind of) sign butterfly and music (they are tricky two-handed signs). She loves music and dancing. Will laugh if you start laughing for no reason. Starting to throw fits when she doesn't get what she wants. At least one molar is about to pop through. Loves to eat peas and Cheerios and still loves her baby food. Weighs just over 20 pounds. Pretends everything is a phone (I finally bought her a play phone on Friday). Now says "Papa," "Clap!" and tries to say, "Hooray!" Cries when her diaper is changed. Tries to put on her own clothes, socks and shoes. Can find her head, toes, nose and sometimes eyes when you ask her. Helps wash her belly in the bath. Clicks her tongue to get your attention and points at things she wants you to look at. Keeps us running after her but is really happy most of the time. Is so much fun!
I never came up with anything creative to do for monthly photos so I thought we would take photos of Anna Kate with each of us each month! I love to see pictures of me with my parents and see how different they looked when I was little (or rather how un-different they looked in my parent's case!) and I thought this would force us to do the same for Anna Kate.
Self feeding!
Today I gave Anna Kate a container of applesauce, a spoon and let her go for it! She did pretty well getting applesauce on the spoon and into her mouth. When I went to get the spoon away she got very mad! I guess she likes feeding herself. She also got sticky enough to get another bath. (I let her do it right before church - not so smart on my part!) I see many more messes in our future.
