Anna Kate always wants me to fill her little cups up with water so she can drink out of them (and spill them). After every drink she says, "Mmm, yummy!" as if it the best thing she's ever had. And yes, she is sitting in her box of crayons - she often does.

Snoring

Anna Kate does this funny fake snoring noise when she pretends to sleep - "KKKKK, shhhh, KKKKK, shhhh!"

Lucky Charms

Anna Kate loves Lucky Charms cereal! She names all the colors and shapes and only eats the marshmallows. Here she is putting the green hat on her head.

Growing up!

When did she suddenly become a kid instead of a baby?!? Hair in a pony tail, wearing fairy wings and a ballerina skirt! She is growing up way too fast!

Imagination

Anna Kate drew a circle and called it a "happy face." She added eyes, nose, mouth and a hat.

Anna Kate always pulls her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches apart. Usually she pretends it is a door and she knocks on the bread and then opens it up. Today she took it apart, lined up the pieces and told me it was a train and said, "Chugga-chugga choo-choo!" Then she moved pieces around said it was a slide. She used her fingers to "climb" up and then "slide" down.

Daddy brought a new (to us) slide home for Anna Kate!

Cupcake Date

Did someone say cupcakes?!?

Anna Kate and I, along with the Smith's, went to the new cupcake shop in Fairhaven called Katie's Cupcakes. It was really cute! Anna Kate was really excited to see all the cupcakes in the display case. We each had a very vanilla mini-cupcake and some strawberry milk. We will definitely go there again... maybe when Anna Kate is a little older and not so messy!

Alphabet Girl

Anna Kate was drinking her milk and playing with this applesauce on her tray when she stopped and said, "W-O-T-S." I looked over and she was pointing to the letters on her applesauce! I was impressed! (And you have to admit, that "M" looks a lot like a "W.") I didn't know she knew what a "T" was however yesterday Mallory was over for piano lessons and she was showing Anna Kate what a "T" was. Anna Kate must have remembered it!

Anna Kate is really into saying "happy" and "sad" and making faces to go along with them. Here is her happy face.

Baking Cupcakes!

I asked Anna Kate if she wanted to make cupcakes today! She nodded her head yes and went into the kitchen. I went to go get her apron and when I came back she was waiting patiently at her little table. She thought I was offering her an actual cupcake, not asking her to make them.

Anna Kate put all of the cupcake liners in the tin, counted the eggs and helped me stir.

And she read the directions for me!

She was SO excited when she finally got to EAT a cupcake!

21 months old

What Anna Kate has been up to lately:

GROWING! Her pants are suddenly too short and her shoes are too small.

Weighs about 25 pounds and is about 33 inches tall.

Remembers things that happened earlier in the day or days before. For example the other day we went to a music class. I asked her the next day if she liked her music class. She nodded her head yes and then said, "Kids, Cora, Eva, ding ding ding, music, baby sleeping, tar." This all meant that there were kids there, including her friends, Cora and Eva, she played a triangle, there was music, a baby was sleeping in the room and the teacher played a ukulele which she calls a guitar or tar. I was impressed!

Answers yes or no questions by nodding or shaking her head.

She can identify the letters A, K, O, S, and her very favorite letter W! She says it SO cute too!

She LOVES to color! (just in case you didn't notice that)

Can draw circles and ovals and scribbles she calls "W."

She can count to 10 and loves to count everything.

She knows a few colors - pink, purple, orange, yellow, white, green, black and everything else she usually calls blue.

She loves to sing her ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus, Five Little Monkeys, Ring Around the Rosy, The More We Get Together.

She will start singing a song and then say mommy when she wants me to finish it.

She climbed out of her crib again! But when I ask her if she should climb out she says, "No, owie!" and rubs her head.

Says, "Step, together, step, together" when walking up or down stairs.

Loves to SLIDE!

Moves her stool around the house to turn lights on and off.

Starting to say funny things. Whenever I would change her diaper on the ground she would kick me and I would tell her, "No kicking Mommy!" One day when I was changing her she said, "No kicking Mommy" over and over. Then she got up, went over to her stuffed cat and said, "Kicking Meow?" and then kicked it! I told her not to kick her cat so now she saws, "No kicking Mommy, no kicking Meow, kick ball."

We held off on letting her watch TV for a long time but now she has a couple of favorite shows - Barney and Blue's Clues. She can sing most of both of the theme songs. She was in the bath the other day and there was one big bubble with a few little bubbles attached to it and she said, "Blue's Clue! Blue's Clue!" and even open and shut her hands like they do on the show. The bubbles looked like a paw print to her!

Loves to run and say, "Ready, Set, GO!"

Still loves to read books. Her favorite book right now is one called Biscuit and she requests it every time.

She has to go to bed with her sippy cup of water, purple blanket and kitty.

Still kind of picky with food. Her favorite foods are probably applesauce, cheese and milk.

She tries to help by unloading the dishes, putting her laundry away, shaking and pouring her milk.

Loves to hide in any cupboards she can fit into and then say "peek-a-boo."

When she makes a mess she says, "Oh no, messy, sorry Mommy." Even though she says sorry, she usually doesn't stop making the mess.

She loves to fake sneeze and wants us to do the same so she can say bless you.

Every time she sees a truck she says it's heavy.

Dances to music.

Is really into a few opposites - happy and sad, awake and asleep, inside and outside.

If she hears a baby crying she says, "Baby sad, wah, wah, wah!"

Says, "Where is it? I don't know."

Wants to talk on the phone.

Always wants to wash her hands with soap. The other day she had crawled onto the bathroom counter and had soap all over her hands.

Has been saying just "thanks" lately instead of "thank you."

If I turn off the TV she will run and turn it back on. Luckily she hasn't figured out how to turn the cable on so she just gets a black screen, which makes her pretty mad!

Follows simple directions... most of the time.

Likes to try on shoes and hats and clothes and change them a bunch of times.

Loves to have her fingernails and toenails painted. She blows on them when I finish.

If she sees real flowers, silk flowers or pictures of flowers she has to smell them.

Can finally drink out of a cup! We give her a little bit of water and she takes little sips and says, "Yummy!" after each one like it's the best thing she's ever had.

Says, "Mommy fix it" or "Daddy fix it" when she needs help with something.

Loves to give kisses and says "ahh" when she gives hugs.

Barbeque Sauce

Anna Kate doesn't like ketchup or ranch but she loves barbeque sauce.

She dips her chicken in it and then licks it off.

She even saw the barbeque sauce sitting on the counter and wanted it all for herself!

She just can't get enough!

One foot in the box

Anna Kate can often be found laying on the floor coloring but I'm not sure why she has her foot in the box!

Sunday Sweetie

Super Slide!

Mike made Anna Kate a slide out of a folding table leaning against our couch. He put pillows next to the couch so she can easily climb and slide away. She goes down pretty fast so there are pillows and blankets at the end to soften the landing. She cannot get enough and cries when we tell her it's time to go upstairs and do something else.

Silly things

Anna Kate had me help her put on this goofy headband and then she said, "mirror" and ran into her bathroom to step onto her stool to see herself. She thought it looked pretty silly. I asked her if I could go get the camera to take a picture of her and she nodded her head yes. When I came back, I was so surprised she hadn't moved or taken off the headband and she actually looked at the camera for a picture! 

Anna Kate loves to climb into our bed, lay on the pillows and say "Nigh-night Anna Kate." I told her if she was sleeping she needed to close her eyes and this is what she did... silly girl!

No nap and more coloring!

... played in her crib for two hours instead of taking a nap today! UGH! I was just telling someone today how her naps have been getting longer. Anna Kate must have overheard me and decided to prove me wrong.

Anna Kate found a pencil and a piece of paper and went to town doodling.

I remember laying my head down to write too.

Here she is trying to trace her hand. She loves when we do that for her. She always gives her drawn hand "a five" with her actual hand.

Anna Kate got so excited when she was drawing saying, "Apple, apple, apple!" Do you see it?

Coloring!

Anna Kate loves to color, especially with colored pencils! I love how she holds her pencil and leans in close. She looks like she takes it so seriously.

Music & Books

Anna Kate has a CD with six songs on it with six matching books to go with the songs. She knows how to turn on the CD player and push play. Then she finds the right book for the song that plays and follows along.

Here she is doing the "babies on the bus go wah, wah, wah" part of the "Wheels on the Bus" song.
